Cinco de Mayo

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is widely celebrated as a day to honor and celebrate Mexican-American heritage and culture. Festivities often include parades, street fairs, mariachi music, folkloric dancing, and, more broadly, the enjoyment of Mexican food and beverages. The holiday gained popularity in the U.S., particularly among Chicano activists in the 1960s, as a symbol of cultural pride and resistance.
